Associate Software Engineer

The Associate Software Engineer is responsible for maintaining existing releases of the OpenPages with high quality. This individual must have excellent troubleshooting, debugging, and problem solving skills. He or she will be responsible for identifying root causes of problems, identifying dependencies, and then using his or her proven software development skills to deliver corrected software code, including the thorough unit testing of all surrounding areas.

The Associate Software Engineer will also share responsibility for performing Release Engineering activities for the Sustaining releases. This individual must also be able to interact with other teams and customers in a professional manner as the job involves providing the back-line of support for escalated software issues. Currently this position is open in our corporate headquarters in Waltham, MA

Mandatory Skills and Experience

  • 2 years enterprise software design, code & test experience in a commercial company
  • Experience with advanced JavaScript and CSS in a commercial web application 
  • Hands-on experience and deep knowledge of advanced web development including HTML, AJAX, JSP, Java, XML, REST
  • Hands-on experience with Dojo 1.3 and JSON is highly desirable
  • Experience developing J2EE enterprise class applications
  • Excellent technical writing and communications skills including the ability to interact with other teams.
  • Demonstrable skills in data structures & algorithms, coding, and formal test techniques
  • Strong experience with Object-Oriented Design & Implementation
  • Experience with source code control systems
  • BS in CS, CIS, or Math or equivalent

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience with multimedia applications such as Flash or Flex
  • Experience with Oracle relational database
  • Experience with J2EE development in WebLogic and WebSphere
  • Prior experience in a start-up company
