Waltham, Mass — August 25, 2008
News Facts
- OpenPages, the leading provider of enterprise GRC management solutions that optimize business performance, today launched a Podcast series which highlights customer, partner and GRC expert interviews held during the company’s recent Executive ERM Forum.
- The Executive ERM Forum was developed by OpenPages to be a meeting of the minds between Chief Risk Officers, senior risk and compliance executives and industry thought leaders to discuss the latest trends and best practices in risk management and the changing regulatory landscape.
- Kicking-off the Podcast series is an interview with Rick Steinberg, founder and principal of Steinberg Governance Advisors, columnist for Compliance Week and strategic advisor for OpenPages.
- As part of his interview with Gordon Burnes, OpenPages’ vice president of sales & marketing, Steinberg shares his insights on the current and emerging issues in the risk management space, noting that technology plays an essential role in helping companies to appropriately manage risks in today’s market.
- Regarding how recent events have impacted views on risk management, Steinberg discusses how risk events, coupled with the current economic conditions, have truly opened the eyes of both the CEO and board member to these concerns. As a result, these companies are looking at enterprise risk management programs more seriously.
- The second Podcast in the series will be available on the OpenPages blog beginning September 15, 2008. Following, the company will continue to release new Podcast interviews every two weeks, with the last culminating at the fifth-annual OpenPages User Symposium in October.
Quotes from Rick Steinberg, founder and principal, Steinberg Governance Advisors
- "More companies are realizing that risk uncertainty is inherent in everything that happens. You start with the risks, you analyze those risks, and then you determine what actions you need to take to manage those risks. When you have that thought process in a holistic ERM program, it can be very effective."
- "Technology is more and more important for effective risk management. It’s very difficult to manage all the risks as well as the accountabilities and responsibilities and to track those activities. This holds true for the communication that’s needed up and downstream in the organization as well – technology is almost essential at this point to do it well."
Quotes from Gordon Burnes, VP of sales & marketing, OpenPages
- "This Podcast series truly captures the goal of our recent Executive ERM Forum—to address how risk management activities have evolved over the past year, particularly as a result of current US economic conditions."
- "These interviews not only serve as a great way to gain best practices from some of the most forward-thinking executives in the GRC space, but also provide viewers with the knowledge needed to evaluate the strength of their own risk management programs and initiatives."
