Richard Steinberg

Founder and Principal, Steinberg Governance Advisors

Richard M. Steinberg is the founder and a principal of Steinberg Governance Advisors, Inc., where he advises boards of directors - and their governance, audit and other committees - of Fortune 100 companies, mid-size corporations, major institutional investors and leading universities, as well as federal governmental bodies.  Previously, he was a Senior Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) and was its Corporate Governance Practice Leader, where he was responsible for the design and development of PwC's corporate governance services and thought leadership, and where he advised major company boards of directors on corporate governance issues.  As lead project partner, he formulated and wrote the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) Internal Control -- Integrated Framework, which is the global standard of internal control, and recognized by the SEC and Public Company Accounting Oversight Board for corporate use in meeting Sarbanes-Oxley's reporting requirements

He has long been a leader in shaping professional standards, serving as chair or member of many committees and task forces of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  He also is the co-Founder and co-Dean PricewaterhouseCoopers-University of Delaware Corporate Governance Center Directors' College.  He also serves on many other prestigious boards and councils including Conference Board's Global Corporate Governance Research Center, Corporate Board Member's Academic Council, Open Compliance & Ethics Group Executive Advisory Panel, and the GAO Forum on Governance and Accountability, among others.

James Lam

President, James Lam & Associates

Considered to be the first-ever chief risk officer, Lam is one of the world’s leading authorities on managing enterprise risk. Lam brings to OpenPages more than 20 years experience in risk and business management. In addition to his role at OpenPages, he is the founder and president of James Lam & Associates, a leading risk management consultancy with clients that include The World Bank, Salomon Smith Barney, Allied Capital, First Data, Risk Management Association, Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago and GMAC. He is also the author of Enterprise Risk Management, published by Wiley, a top-10 best seller among risk management titles on all major book web sites.

Dr. George Westerman

Research Scientist - Center for Information Systems Research, MIT Sloan School of Management

Dr. George Westerman is a Research Scientist in the Center for Information Systems Research (CISR) at MIT’s Sloan School of Management. His research in IT risk management provides implementable advice on effective IT compliance and operational risk management, based on surveys and case studies from more than 150 enterprises. In his ongoing work on CIO leadership, he has identified important levers through which current CIOs can boost their credibility and aspiring CIOs can position themselves for the next opportunity. He has been cited by CIO Magazine, Gartner, and other leading publications. His work has appeared in publications such as Sloan Management Review, Harvard Business School cases and numerous working papers from MIT CISR. In addition to regular contact with MIT CISR sponsors, he leads an MIT Sloan executive education program called “IT for the Non-IT Executive,” which is attended by more than 200 senior executives annually.
