OpenPages ORM allows banks to comply with Basel II. Basel II is a revised framework of the Basel Accords, which are recommendations on banking laws and regulations issued by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision.

Initially published in June 2004, Basel II was designed to create an international standard that banking regulators can use when creating regulations about how much capital banks need to put aside to guard against the types of financial and operational risks that banks face. The goal is to promote a more forward-looking approach to capital supervision, one that encourages banks to identify the risks they may face in the present and in the future, and to improve their ability to manage those risks.

The Basel II Framework provides options for determining the capital requirements for operational risk, to allow banks to select the right approaches. According to Basel II, operational risk is defined as the risk of loss resulting from inadequate or failed internal processes, people and systems, or from external events.
