Regulators asked for Sarbanes-Oxley costs
The SEC and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board recently announced revisions to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), with additional guidance for the Section 404 internal controls provision. These revisions are intended to reduce costs and lessen the burden of SOX compliance. Two members of the House Small Business Committee want to know how much these revisions to SOX compliance requirements are expected to save small companies, though. The SEC has not yet responded to this request specifically. A member of the committee has also requested another year delay for small companies to achieve SOX compliance.
