International Power joins US Sarbox exodus
The Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) is being blamed for the departure of three FTSE 100 companies from U.S. markets in one week. Sarbanes-Oxley is a corporate governance law that was passed in the wake of huge financial scandals in the U.S. It's most contentious part, Section 404, has been highly criticized for being too costly and cumbersome, which led the SEC to recently release revisions to SOX compliance requirements.
