UK supply chain pulls its 'Sox' up
A recent UK report indicates that even companies that don't have a presence on US exchanges may have to become Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) compliant because of supply chain issues. For example, Section 404 of SOX compliance mandates that companies establish appropriate purchase commitment visibility. Already, 5,000 + British companies have achieved or are in the process of achieving SOX compliance, and it is expected that by 2017, 45,000 + UK companies will meet SOX compliance guidelines. Sarbanes-Oxley has been derided by US and UK critics alike despite many organizations seeing their competitive advantage increase with voluntary adoption of SOX compliance. Efforts toward achieving SOX compliance can also help companies that are interested in supplying or partnering with larger companies. .
